Historical Investigation

W&A has a thorough knowledge of Midwestern and Indiana history. The firm has written or edited numerous technical studies that range from environmental to historic to archaeological reports. Technical reports have also been translated into public education such as the historic exhibit of the Beaux Arts Federal Courthouse and Post Office commissioned by the General Services Administration and Indiana’s Statehouse, a booklet created for the Indiana Department of Administration (250,000 copies published). In addition, the firm has written technical histories of specific monumental buildings including many courthouses and specifically the Tyndall Armory as parts of environmental studies for local, state, and federal agencies. Most recently W&A has ventured into creating digital, interactive books with the publication of The Old Northwest Frontier: Where We Live Series, available on Apple Books. W&A also provides historical editing services, including William Barnes’ memoir entitled, Natural Resources and the Great Depression, which is an edited recollection of Barnes’ years working in the Civil Conservation Corps in and around Crane during the 1930s, commissioned by the Indiana Historical Bureau and Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
